Step Forward Global Initiative (SFGI) is a civic education and information organization focused on women entering politics, at the starting line of political races. We shift the conversation from, « Who is in office? » to « Who steps forward to run for office? »
Every year, about 750,000-1.5 million women step forward to run for public office around the globe, a fourth of total candidates. They face unique barriers and an unbalanced system. SFGI tracks upcoming elections globally where women are candidates, raising awareness around their candidacy and their country. Reducing the isolation and marginalization experienced by women who step forward, we connect these women and organizations that support them. We advance how women running for political office worldwide are perceived through our nonpartisan, fact-based, digital-first presence, using social media and our website to increase their visibility. We ensure women stepping forward are seen and visible, connected and supported, and recognized and valued.
